Rules
Rules
RULE 1: DON'T BE AN ASSHOLE.
Characters are going to get murdered, they're not always going to get along, and some of them will probably hate each other. As players, however, you're expected to treat each other with dignity and respect. This includes how you treat the mods - we're all trying to have a good time together, so let's do our best to get along. We'll put up an optional HMD post each month which can be used for constructive criticism. We will not tolerate any form of harassment.
BUT WHAT IF THERE'S A DISAGREEMENT?
A lot of things can be solved by communicating with each other. If you really can't work things out, then it becomes appropriate to bring the issue to the mods, and we'll do our best to sort it out.
WHAT ABOUT ANONCOMMS?
It is not the mods' job to police wankgate and the like, and as a general rule, we aren't going to monitor it. That said, it is the mods' job to make sure all players are having a good time. That means that if someone notices a problem and brings us evidence of a player talking badly about someone in a public space, it will result in a warning at minimum and possibly a ban depending on severity. Everyone's here to have fun. That's easier without anyone inciting drama.
RULE 2: FOLLOW COMMON ROLEPLAY COURTESY
Some things this includes:
Basically, if you aren't sure whether you should do something, ask first.
RULE 3: BE ELIGIBLE TO PLAY IN THIS KIND OF GAME
Some things this includes:
RULE 4: DO YOUR AC
AC is 2 threads of at least 5 comments each, once a month, with a check-in approximately every 2 weeks. A listed hiatus can cut that down to half. Make sure to respond with your AC while the check-in is up, and remember that murder check-ins are mandatory unless you're on hiatus.
Dead characters do not need to respond to murder check-ins, but do still need to respond for AC and provide at least one thread of 5 comments or more. (If they died in the month relevant to AC they'll still need to have two threads.)
Don't try to get around AC. If you drop or idle a character, you will not be allowed to immediately pick them back up. If you're consistently going on the maximum hiatus, expect to be talked to about activity. This is a small game with a lot going on in it, and while we understand life happens, we do want the majority of our cast to be contributing to activity at any given time.
FOLLOW THE RULES
These rules shouldn't be difficult to adhere to. They're designed so that everyone can have fun playing in an environment that's safe for all the participants. A minor offense will count as a strike against the offending player. Three strikes and you're out. In the case of a bigger offense, the mods reserve the right to directly ask the player to leave the game.
