Rules

RULE 1: DON'T BE AN ASSHOLE.

Characters are going to get murdered, they're not always going to get along, and some of them will probably hate each other. As players, however, you're expected to treat each other with dignity and respect. This includes how you treat the mods - we're all trying to have a good time together, so let's do our best to get along. We'll put up an optional HMD post each month which can be used for constructive criticism. We will not tolerate any form of harassment.

BUT WHAT IF THERE'S A DISAGREEMENT?

A lot of things can be solved by communicating with each other. If you really can't work things out, then it becomes appropriate to bring the issue to the mods, and we'll do our best to sort it out.

WHAT ABOUT ANONCOMMS?

It is not the mods' job to police wankgate and the like, and as a general rule, we aren't going to monitor it. That said, it is the mods' job to make sure all players are having a good time. That means that if someone notices a problem and brings us evidence of a player talking badly about someone in a public space, it will result in a warning at minimum and possibly a ban depending on severity. Everyone's here to have fun. That's easier without anyone inciting drama.

RULE 2: FOLLOW COMMON ROLEPLAY COURTESY

Some things this includes:

  • Someone doesn't want to play something with you? You say okay and move on.
  • Put appropriate warnings on your posts so that people can avoid content they may not want to read - if the content of the post is R-rated, also put it under a cut.
  • Discuss things with the other player. This ranges from making sure both of you know your characters are going to fight to not godmodding or infomodding.
  • Make sure the other player is okay with you breaking the fourth wall before you do it.

Basically, if you aren't sure whether you should do something, ask first.

RULE 3: BE ELIGIBLE TO PLAY IN THIS KIND OF GAME

    Some things this includes:

  • Be old enough. While we don't have much restriction on character ages, we do require that players be at least 18 years old. Please don't lie about this. If we discover you are in fact under 18, you will be asked to leave.
  • Be serious about joining the game. We understand that life happens and the game has a relatively relaxed pace, but take into consideration when you app whether you'll be able to play with any consistency. Likewise, apps are intended to show both that you know the character and can follow directions. If an app is rejected it can be edited and resubmitted the next month, but if you have the same character rejected twice, you will no longer be eligible to play that character.

    RULE 4: DO YOUR AC

AC is 2 threads of at least 5 comments each, once a month, with a check-in approximately every 2 weeks. A listed hiatus can cut that down to half. Make sure to respond with your AC while the check-in is up, and remember that murder check-ins are mandatory unless you're on hiatus.

Dead characters do not need to respond to murder check-ins, but do still need to respond for AC and provide at least one thread of 5 comments or more. (If they died in the month relevant to AC they'll still need to have two threads.)

Don't try to get around AC. If you drop or idle a character, you will not be allowed to immediately pick them back up. If you're consistently going on the maximum hiatus, expect to be talked to about activity. This is a small game with a lot going on in it, and while we understand life happens, we do want the majority of our cast to be contributing to activity at any given time.

    FOLLOW THE RULES

These rules shouldn't be difficult to adhere to. They're designed so that everyone can have fun playing in an environment that's safe for all the participants. A minor offense will count as a strike against the offending player. Three strikes and you're out. In the case of a bigger offense, the mods reserve the right to directly ask the player to leave the game.
